Werd I/O is a regular, free newsletter about the internet, democracy, and life in the 21st century.

It's a mix of topics like AI, technology ethics, open source, the open web, privacy, identity, and data rights -- all seen through the lens of how they intersect with democracy, media and journalism, and living a good life.

My writing is personal as well as a topical. I've been a startup founder, engineer, investor, CEO, and CTO. Right now I lead technology for non-profit newsrooms. I'm also a dad, a third culture kid, and an elder carer.
